Co-Ownership with Nordicfundogs

We are dedicated to producing healthy, high-quality puppies that uphold the standards of our breed. To expand our breeding program and ensure our dogs thrive in loving homes, we offer a co-ownership program for select offspring. This unique arrangement allows us to partner with trusted individuals or families who share our commitment to the breed, while providing an opportunity to welcome one of our exceptional puppies into your home at a reduced cost.

What is Co-Ownership?

Co-ownership with Nordicfundogs means that you, as the co-owner, become the primary caregiver and loving home for one of our puppies, while we retain breeding rights for that dog. This partnership allows the dog to remain part of our carefully planned breeding program, ensuring the continuation of Nordicfundogs’ legacy of excellence. The dog lives with you full-time, enjoying all the love and care of a family pet, while we collaborate on specific breeding-related activities, such as health testing, show participation, and potential breeding opportunities.

Benefits of Co-Ownership

•  Reduced Puppy Price: Because the dog remains part of our breeding program, the purchase price of a co-owned puppy is significantly lower than that of a pet puppy, making it more accessible to welcome one of our exceptional dogs into your home.

•  Comprehensive Support: We cover the costs of health tests (e.g., hip, elbow, eye, and genetic screenings) and breeding license tests required for the dog to meet FCI standards. This ensures the dog’s health and suitability for breeding without financial burden to you.

•  Ongoing Guidance: As experienced FCI breeders, we provide ongoing advice and support on training, care, and show preparation to ensure the dog thrives in your care.

•  Pride in Our Program: By co-owning, you play a vital role in preserving and promoting our breed, contributing to the legacy of Nordicfundogs.

Responsibilities of Co-Ownership

As a co-owner, your primary responsibility is to provide a loving, safe, and nurturing home for the dog, treating them as a cherished family member. Additional responsibilities include:

•  Care and Well-Being: Ensure the dog receives proper nutrition, regular exercise, grooming, and routine veterinary care (outside of breeding-specific tests, which we cover).

•  Show Participation: If possible, we encourage co-owners to present the dog at dog shows to showcase their quality and temperament. We will guide you through the process and may cover entry fees or provide training support, depending on the agreement.

•  Breeding Cooperation: For dogs selected for breeding, you agree to make the dog available for our breeding activities (e.g., mating or semen collection for males, or whelping for females) at mutually agreed times. We handle all breeding logistics and ensure the process is as smooth as possible for you and the dog.

•  Open Communication: Maintain regular contact with us to provide updates on the dog’s health, behavior, and progress, ensuring a successful partnership.

Co-Ownership Contract

Unlike our standard pet puppy contracts, co-ownership agreements are formalized with a separate co-ownership contract. This legally binding document outlines the terms of our partnership, including:

•  Our retained breeding rights, specifying the number of litters or breeding events (typically 1–3 litters for females or a set number of matings for males, depending on the breed and agreement).
•  Your responsibilities as the primary caregiver and our obligations as breeders.
•  Details on health testing, show participation, and breeding logistics.
•  Clear terms for the duration of the co-ownership, after which full ownership may transfer to you, depending on the agreement.
The contract ensures transparency and protects both parties, fostering a trusting and collaborative relationship.

How It Works
1.  Selection: We carefully select puppies with the potential to contribute to our breeding program based on their health, temperament, and conformation to breed standards.
2.  Application and Discussion: If you’re interested in co-ownership, we’ll discuss your lifestyle, experience, and commitment to ensure a good match. We’ll review the specific dog, the contract terms, and any questions you may have.
3.  Placement: Once approved, the puppy joins your home at a reduced price, fully vaccinated, dewormed, freshly groomed, and equipped with a cuddling blanket, favorite toy, and starter food, just like our pet puppies.
4.  Health and Breeding Tests: We cover the costs of all necessary health screenings and breeding license tests to confirm the dog’s suitability for our program. These tests are conducted at appropriate ages, in line with FCI and breed club requirements.
5.  Show and Breeding Activities: If the dog is show-eligible, we’ll work with you to prepare for dog shows. When the dog reaches breeding age, we coordinate breeding activities, ensuring minimal disruption to your routine.
6.  Completion: Once the breeding obligations are fulfilled (as outlined in the contract), the dog may transition to full ownership with you, becoming your lifelong companion without further breeding responsibilities.
